When the transit mixer arrives on-site, Din Brothers adds dry Xypex Admix C-1000 powder directly into the drum of concrete before any discharge begins. Once the powder is added, water is introduced into the drum to ensure proper mixing and activation of the Xypex Admix with the concrete. The mixer is run at high speed for 8 to 10 minutes, ensuring the admixture is thoroughly dispersed and the crystalline waterproofing technology is evenly integrated.
During the pouring process, Din Brothers’ team ensures the concrete is placed with the proper vibration and rodding techniques. They use vibrators to eliminate air pockets and ensure proper consolidation of the concrete, especially around corners and reinforcements. Rodding is also done to maintain a uniform density and ensure the concrete settles properly in all areas. This careful attention during the placement phase ensures that the Xypex Admix performs as intended, activating its crystalline technology for long-lasting waterproofing. Additionally, their team monitors compaction, curing, and the overall application to ensure the structure is fully protected against water penetration.
In some cases, especially for smaller projects or in areas where a transit mixer is not accessible, manual mixing is used. In this process, the dry Xypex Admix is added directly to the dry cement and aggregates in a mechanical drum mixer. After the powder is added, water is gradually introduced to the mixture to ensure proper hydration and activation of the Admix. The concrete is mixed thoroughly for several minutes to ensure even distribution of the Xypex Admix.
Once the manual mixing is complete, the concrete is placed using the same careful methods, with vibrators and rodding employed to ensure proper compaction and eliminate air pockets. This ensures that the concrete remains dense and the crystalline waterproofing technology is activated, providing durable and effective waterproofing for the structure.
